🌴 First Hawaii Diaspora Camp (2022)
The very first Hawaii Diaspora Camp took place from November 23 to 27, 2022, on the island of O‘ahu. The camp brought together 23 children and their families from several Hawaiian islands and cities in California for a long weekend of cultural immersion and community-building.
The camp was led by Ági Törteli, the founding organizer of the Hawaii Diaspora Camps. The story-based thematic framework—an essential element of the program—was carried out by Etelka Keszei, along with Csaba, Zsófi, and Domi. They were supported by Clara Lang and Nathan, making the immersive storyline a true team effort.
Attila led daily ukulele workshops for both children and adults, helping participants quickly build confidence while strumming and singing Hungarian children’s songs and folk tunes. In the evenings, grownups gathered for campfire singing sessions with Attila and his guitar, creating a nostalgic and joyful atmosphere.
He also provided folk dance instruction to both kids and adults, introducing them to the basics of Hungarian dance traditions through fun, interactive lessons.
