🇭🇺🎶 Hungarian Song Day 2024 – A Celebration of Hungarian Music
On Saturday, September 7, 2024, we gathered at the soon-to-open Hungarian Cultural Center in Newark, CA (35660 Cedar Blvd) to celebrate Hungarian Song Day — a full-day cultural and musical event co-hosted by Crossroads Band San Francisco, the San Francisco Bay Area Hungarian Cultural Center, and the Hungarian Reformed Church of San Francisco and Vicinity.
🎵 The nearly 12-hour free event featured a wide array of music-themed activities for all ages, including:
– Discussions on Hungarian music and personal stories
– Showcases of classic and new Hungarian music videos
– Ukulele lessons for adults
– Singalongs, jam sessions
– A pop music quiz with a Rúzsa Magdi poster as the prize
– A closing retro dance party
– Crafts and outdoor play for kids
– Food and drinks available throughout the day
– The venue and drinks were provided by the Hungarian Cultural Center (HCC).
– The food was generously offered by the Hungarian Reformed Church (HRC).
– The entire program was curated by Attila Egyedi.
– Sound engineering and closing party music was handled by László Velinzky.
– Kids program coordinated by Etelka Keszei.
Special thanks to all the discussion partners who took the time to prepare in advance of the event. One-on-one conversations took place beforehand to align themes and compile the music video selections.
