🎉 Third Hawaii Diaspora Camp (2024)
The third Hawaii Diaspora Camp, organized by the Hawaiian Hungarian School under the leadership of Ági Törteli, took place in 2024, guided by a playful Olympic theme led by Clara and Nathan Lang. Over 70 participants—including approximately 40 children and their families—enjoyed a vibrant five-day, four-night experience, making it the largest Hawaii camp to date. The event was once again hosted on the beautiful island of O‘ahu during Thanksgiving week.
Attila continued to lead engaging ukulele workshops for children and adults, bringing music into every corner of the camp. Each evening, adults gathered around the campfire, joining Attila’s voice and guitar in a beloved tradition filled with songs and laughter.
A lively music-themed quiz night provided a fun-filled evening where campers of all ages challenged their pop and rock music knowledge and tested their ears in sound recognition games, fostering teamwork and joy.
This year, energetic folk dance instruction was led by Gergő Bolgovics, whose dynamic sessions brought campers together through movement and tradition.
The camp concluded with a joyful public táncház in Kapiʻolani Park, co-led by Gergő and Attila. Live music, dancing, and a sense of community created a festive finale under the stars.
