🎶 Folk Was the Soul of Everything – January 19 Concert Recap 🎶
After a short break, our band returned to the stage for a very special concert, joined by amazing guest musicians. We performed a carefully curated selection of songs—some traditional Hungarian folk songs, some modern adaptations, and several pop-rock pieces clearly inspired by folk music. The program included music by Zsuzsa Koncz, Gypo Circus, Parno Graszt, Magdi Rúzsa, and a few unexpected surprises that delighted the audience. The musicians on stage:
- 🎤 Bea Váncza – vocals
- 🎸 Attila Egyedi – vocals, guitars
Guest performers:
- 🎸 Gergő Szabó – bass guitar
- 🎷 Endre Balogh – tárogató, flute, saxophone
- 🎹 Zsuzsi Bodnár – piano
- 🎻 Orsi Müller – cello
- 🥁 Gergő Bolgovics – jug, drums, percussion, vocal bass
The concert took place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Hungarian Cultural Center in Newark, California. Even though it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, almost 100 people joined us for an evening full of powerful music and community connection.
🎟️ The suggested donation ($15) was offered by the musicians to the Hungarian Cultural Center in exchange for the opportunity to rehearse there. We thank everyone who joined us and contributed to the success of the evening!
